I. Overview of Pastor and Leadership Team
- GDTSL Vision Statement
- GDTSL Paradigm, Values and Strategic Plan Overview
- Application Form (see attached) will be sent to potential candidates interested in implementing GDTSL in their church. Potential candidates will be asked to submit an application. Application will be reviewed by Department of Pastoral Ministries and Evangelism, and possibly other selected GCC staff members (GDTSL staff).
- Discovery Phase
- Once a pastor submits an application and has initial acceptance, GDTSL staff sets up a visit with the pastor and his church in order to share GDTSL and evaluate the pastor’s and church’s interest in the program.
- A maximum of 12 pastors and their core church leaders will be invited to the orientation.
- Orientation Retreat – Occurs after the application and before a formal acceptance of the pastor and church in the program. A maximum of 12 pastors and their core church leaders will be invited to attend the retreat (A total of 5 persons from each church).
- Pastor and Core Church Leaders Orientation Retreat = 3 days (schedule details inserted here)
- Department of Pastoral Ministries/Evangelism reviews the orientation participants and affirms a list of 6 Pastors/Churches to become GDTSL pilot churches.
- 6 Pastors/Churches are invited to participate in GDTSL as pilot churches
- Approved pilot churches for GDTSL , are invited to sign a covenant
- GDTSL adviser is assigned to each church
- Training Retreats (2 X per year)
- GDTSL Retreat = Day and 1/2 (schedule details inserted here)
2. Support
- Adviser serves as mentor, coach, and guide
- The adviser will observe & evaluate the pastor/church in their ministry environment twice a year
- Adviser will serve as a point person between the pastor, the church, and GCC
- Coaching appointment with pastor one time per month during first year (and other times as necessary)
- One time per quarter in subsequent years (and other times as necessary)
3. Suggested Annual Goals
- Love: 20% of members start a new discipleship relationship with someone outside of the congregation
- Learn: (1) 15% of church members are involved in a teaching ministry for pre-Adventists interested in Christ; (2) 5% growth rate in new (non-transfer) members through baptism or profession of faith
- Live: 50% of new members have discovered their gifts & are active in ministry
- Lead: 10% of the members are actively discipling potential new disciples
4. Reporting – Monthly on GDTSL
- a.Church activities (i.e. attendance, baptisms, tithe, visitors, etc.)
- b.Quantifiable GDTSL activities (i.e. new relationships being developed; people being discipled; community projects; small group meetings, etc.)
5. Year-end Review by Adviser
- a.Overall growth in GDTSL-4 quadrants (Love, Learn, Live, Lead)
- b.Overall growth in GDTSL as an ongoing cycle
- Leaders’ participation coaching & educational retreats
- d.Evaluate monthly reports & progress on annual goals
- e.Recommendation by GCC Adviser
- Recommendation is approved/disapproved by Department of Pastoral Ministries/Evangelism for continuation as a GDTSL pilot church
